Mosher Marsh Preserve
262 Manny’s Corners Road
Amsterdam, NY

Ellie Peters donated this 43-acre preserve to Mohawk Hudson Land Conservancy in 2008. It includes a natural wetland with several shallow man-made ponds and a small tributary to the Chuctanunda Creek. The site also contains a mix of fields with woods and a historic family cemetery and a loop trail with a 300-foot boardwalk that runs through the wetland. Plant and widlife include marsh marigolds, bloodroot flowers, a beaver lodge and dam, four “potholes” (shallow bodies of water) designed to attract wood ducks. The marsh is open from dawn to dusk. Parking access. A kiosk near the parking area details the marsh plant life and the history of the land dating back to the Revolutionary War.
