The 125-year-old F.X. Matt Brewing Co., makers of Saranac, and Brewery Ommegang, proud home to a successful series of HBO “Game of Thrones” beers, are just two of the brew attractions in central New York state.

The walls at Empire Brewing Co. in Syracuse, New York, are covered with Great American Beer Festival hardware and the menu is chock full of locally produced eats. Just across the street, you can visit one of All About Beer magazine’s “125 Places to Have a Beer Before You Die.”

Adirondack Distilling Co. uses “Herkimer diamonds” to filter its all-New York vodka, gin, whiskey and bourbon. The 1911 Spirits line of vodka, gin and hard cider taps into the farm’s century-old apple growing tradition at Beak & Skiff, which itself is an agri-attraction.
