Despite our reputation for tough winters, Central New York can be one of the best places to visit during the colder months with a significant other. As the temperature starts to drop and snow starts to fall, CNY communities provide you with some of the best getaway locations perfect for any romantic weekend.

Cazenovia

Centered about the beautiful Cazenovia Lake, Cazenovia provides breathtaking views and historic architecture. Founded by John Lincklaen in 1793, the village has been a great place for those looking to head to a quaint town and relax for the weekend. Cazenovia is also home to a few award-winning wineries, which makes for a perfect romantic getaway weekend.

Lincklaen House

The Lincklaen House is one of Cazenovia’s most historic landmarks. Since 1835, the Lincklaen House has provided a comfortable, yet elegant, atmosphere for all of its visitors, making it a great place for couples to visit. The historic dining room with a 19th century Colonial charm provides a gourmet menu with perfectly mixed drinks and a well-stocked wine cellar.

Lodging at the Lincklaen House is also available. A popular package among couples includes a one-night stay in a jacuzzi suite or standard room, dinner for two in the dining room, a bottle of red or white wine and breakfast the next morning.

Brae Loch Inn

The Brae Loch Inn is a historic, family-owned business that overwhelms guests with its historically beautiful atmosphere. Brae Loch Inn offers an intimate dining room with fireplaces, Scottish heirlooms, tartan carpeting and an open grill that’s perfect for any romantic evening.

“Having only 12 rooms, we are able to provide our guests with warm and friendly atmosphere that feels like home. We mainly have couples that stay here, so we do offer different romantic packages for couples to select from upon booking,” Co-Owner Valerie Barr said.

The romantic getaway package allows couples to enjoy an evening in a king canopy deluxe room with dinner for two. All guests have the option to upgrade to a room with a jacuzzi or fireplace for a small additional charge.

Cooperstown

Cooperstown is a great place in scenic Otsego County that is filled with rich history and small-town charm. Whether you visit the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum or one of Cooperstown’s well-known breweries, you’re in for a great weekend filled with precious memories.

The Landmark Inn

As part of an exclusive package when you stay at the Landmark Inn, couples have the option to embark on a two-day visit to the Baseball Hall of Fame with behind-the-scenes access that is not even made available to general visitors. This package also includes a membership to the Baseball Hall of Fame valued at $100.

The Otesaga Hotel

Situated lakeside, the Otesaga provides its guests with breathtaking scenic views, even throughout the winter months. While The Otesaga only allows for big parties to lodge there during the winter months, the Hawkeye Spa is open year-round. The spa provides a variety of services for couples to enjoy, including facials and massages. If couples are looking for a great place to relax and recharge, the Hawkeye Spa is a must.

The Hawkeye Bar and Grill is also open year round in addition to the spa. Nestled in the front of The Otesaga, guests will be able to experience views of Lake Otsego while enjoying seasonal favorites from the restaurant’s extensive menu. Samplings of beers and cocktails are also available.

Brewery Ommegang

Well-known by avid Game of Thrones viewers, Brewery Ommegang is also a very popular Cooperstown attraction. Built in 1997 on 136 acres of land, Brewery Ommegang was the first farmstead brewery is the U.S. in more than 100 years when it opened.

Couples who tour the brewery will be able to taste Ommegang’s award-winning Belgian-style ales along with a few limited-edition brews. The Ommegang staff also leads pairings that showcase Café Ommegang favorites.

Located behind the brewery, Café Ommegang provides causal bar seating with delicious Belgian- themed food including assorted aioli, frites, sausages and waffles.

Amsterdam

Amsterdam is another beautifully historic community that is located along the Mohawk River.
