Oneida Community Mansion House
Step into a different way of life at the Oneida Community Mansion House, a National Historic Landmark that once housed one of the most radical utopian societies in America. Lorenzo State Historic Site
A short drive from downtown Cazenovia, the elegant Lorenzo mansion offers a glimpse into early 19th-century life in upstate New York. Built in 1807, this Federal-style estate was home to John Lincklaen, Cazenovia’s founder and land agent for the Holland Land Company. Inside, thoughtfully preserved rooms tell stories of the families and workers who lived here, including the contributions of enslaved individuals. Schoharie County
Old Stone Fort Museum
Built as a church in 1772, and fortified during the Revolutionary War, the Old Stone Fort still bears a British cannonball hole in its thick stone walls. Today, it anchors a seven-building complex that tells more than 300 years of Schoharie County history. Exhibits range from Indigenous artifacts to early industry and rural craftsmanship, offering a well-rounded and locally rooted look at life on the frontier. The Breadbasket of the Revolution
As you travel through the Schoharie Valley, it’s hard to miss the wide, fertile farmland stretching in every direction. During the American Revolution, this region was so agriculturally rich that it earned the nickname “The Breadbasket of the Revolution.” Schoharie’s fields provided much of the grain and provisions that sustained Continental Army troops.
